Problem: A conveyor is used to transport logs. The drive chain was
breaking due to uncontrolled start-up. This caused
interruptions in the production schedule and lost
productivity. Panel space was very limited.
Solution: Due to its compact design, the SMC-2 controller was
easily installed in the space vacated by the previous
starter. A 10-second soft start was selected. This
reduced the starting torque and the shock to the
mechanical system.
